About IWI - Israel Weapon Industries
IWI Firearms has a rich history of innovation and excellence in small arms development.
The story begins in 1933, when Israel Military Industries (IMI) Ltd. started producing firearms in Israel under the British Mandate.
By the late 1950s, IMI partnered with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to create cutting-edge small arms tailored to the challenges of urban combat and harsh environments.
This collaboration led to the development of some of the most iconic and battle-proven firearms used by military, law enforcement, and security personnel worldwide - including the UZI, TAVOR, X95, NEGEV, GALIL ACE, and JERICHO.
In 2005, the Israeli government privatized IMI’s small arms division, giving rise to Israel Weapon Industries (IWI) Ltd.
This transition allowed IWI to further expand its global footprint while continuing its commitment to performance, reliability, and innovation.
IWI US, Inc. was established in 2013 to bring IWI’s cutting-edge firearms to the American market. That same year, the Tavor SAR was introduced and quickly gained recognition, winning the 2014 “Rifle of the Year” Golden Bullseye Award from American Rifleman Magazine.
In 2017, the next-generation Tavor X95 followed suit, earning the same prestigious award from Shooting Illustrated Magazine.
IWI US has also been honored as Importer of the Year by the National Association of Sporting Goods Wholesalers (NASGW) in both 2014 and 2015.
Today, IWI continues to set industry standards, delivering battle-tested, award-winning firearms designed for defense, tactical applications, and shooting sports.
Their legacy is built on precision, durability, and the trust of professionals and enthusiasts worldwide.
